Who we are

Bingify (“we”) is a personal project operated by its maintainer, self-hosted on infrastructure we control (not a third-party cloud platform). For any privacy question, contact developer.mrabhi@gmail.com.

Data we collect

• Account data: your email address, username, and avatar image, whether you sign up with a password or Google. This is handled by our own backend, not a third-party auth provider.
• Activity you create: watch states, episode progress, ratings, reviews, watchlists, follows, and taste preferences.
• AI assistant conversations: the messages you send to the in-app assistant are stored so your conversation syncs across your devices. You can clear them anytime from the assistant.
• Notification data: if you enable push notifications, we store the browser push subscription for your device so we can send them.
• Live TV (guests only): if you use Live TV without signing in, we track your network’s IP address and an anonymous, random identifier (a cookie, not linked to any account) to enforce the free preview limit and prevent abuse. This is deleted automatically after 24 hours and is never linked to an account, even if you sign in later. Signed-in accounts watch without this tracking.
• Technical data: standard request logs and first-party usage analytics that we run ourselves - this data does not leave our own infrastructure or go to any third-party analytics company.

Why we use it

To provide the tracking, rating, review, list, social, Live TV, and recommendation features, to keep the service secure, and to understand aggregate usage. We do not sell your personal data.

Third parties

Bingify is self-hosted - we run our own application server and database rather than using a third-party hosting platform for those. We do use these third-party processors:

• OpenRouter (AI model provider for assistant, AI search, and recaps)

Catalog metadata, ratings, and availability come from TMDB, OMDb, JustWatch, and MyAnimeList (via Jikan). Live TV channel listings come from the iptv-org project. We do not send your personal data to any of these catalog/content providers - requests to them are anonymous, made by our backend on your behalf.

AI features

The assistant, AI search, and “catch me up” recaps are powered by third-party language models accessed through OpenRouter. When you use them, we send the model your request and a short taste summary derived from your activity (such as titles you rated highly and your favorite genres). We do not send your email, name, or account identifiers. Do not share sensitive personal information in the assistant. Providers may process the request to generate a response; we do not use these features to make decisions about you.

Cookies

We use essential, first-party cookies to keep you signed in (issued by our own backend, not a third party) and, for guests using Live TV only, an anonymous identifier to enforce the free preview limit (see above). We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Retention

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, your data is removed from our database directly. Residual copies in routine backups are removed on the normal backup rotation. Live TV guest identifiers expire automatically after 24 hours and are never tied to an account.

Your rights

You can access, correct, export, or delete your data. Delete your account from account settings, or contact developer.mrabhi@gmail.com to exercise any right. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights (for example under GDPR or CCPA).
