Billy Reeves

Directing

1999-05-14 · Auckland, New Zealand

Born in New Zealand and based in Melbourne, Australia, Billy Reeves is a self-taught filmmaker who translates the chaos of anxiety into dark, left-field comedies. Having picked up a camera at age four, he spent his tweens crafting DIY shorts before taking a long hiatus from the director's chair. The Overthinker marks his explosive comeback, and his formal debut working with a professional crew and budget. Heavily influenced by the kinetic energy of Sam Raimi, the meticulous tension of David Fincher, and the tonal tightropes of Ari Aster, Billy Reeves' work thrives on subverting audience expectations. By treating the spiraling dread of an overactive mind as a recipe for comedic shock value, he crafts visually striking, rhythm-driven stories. His ultimate goal is to direct feature-length films and convince investors that his weird, boundary-pushing ideas are exactly what audiences want to see.
