On August 26, 2026, Ridley Scott confirmed he is returning to the franchise to conclude his prequel trilogy. He is already writing the sequel to Alien: Covenant, which will follow the android David using human colonists and Xenomorph embryos to build a "brave new world for himself", focusing heavily on the dangers of rogue AI.
